Dr Felix Honecker

Deputy Director – Deep Tech Innovation Centre
Lecturer in Management, Adam Smith Business School

Felix Honecker is Lecturer in Management at the Adam Smith Business School. His research explores how high-stakes judgements and decisions are made in frontier technology contexts, and how understanding these socio-cognitive processes can inform the design, management and growth of organisations operating under extreme technological uncertainty. His work is grounded in qualitative inquiry, increasingly complemented by experimental and computational approaches.

Felix was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Early Stage Researcher at the University of Glasgow. His doctoral research, part of the EU-funded project Legitimation of Newness and Its Impact on EU Agenda for Change, explored how new technologies, business models and ecosystems in FinTech gain legitimacy. He then joined a project investigating how to enhance the innovation capacity of small and medium-sized financial services firms.

Before academia, Felix was Head of Finance in his family’s metal construction business and an in-house management consultant at Bosch in Germany. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business and management from Aalen University, a master’s in entrepreneurship, innovation and technology from Strathclyde Business School, and a PhD in Management from the University of Glasgow.
