This notice explains what personal information the Deep Tech Innovation Centre (DTIC) collects through this website, why we collect it and what we do with it. DTIC is part of the Adam Smith Business School at the University of Glasgow. The University of Glasgow is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.

Please read this notice alongside the University’s main privacy notice.

What we collect and why

  • Contact and enquiry forms. When you send us a message we collect your name, email address, organisation (if you give it), the topic you chose and your message. We use this only to reply to you and to deal with your enquiry. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
  • Newsletter. If you sign up to our newsletter, or tick the newsletter box on a form, we collect your email address and use it to send you news about our research and events. Our lawful basis is your consent. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe, and you can withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Events. If you book an event through an external booking service, that service collects your details and its own privacy notice applies. We use attendee information only to run the event.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and does not set cookies for visitors. Cookies are only set for staff who log in to edit the website.

The map on our contact page is loaded from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address when the map is displayed. OpenStreetMap’s own privacy policy applies to this.

Who we share your information with

Your information is seen by the DTIC team and, where needed to deal with your enquiry, other University of Glasgow staff. We use service providers to run this website, including our web host and our newsletter service. They process information only on our instructions. We do not sell your information or share it for marketing.

Our web host keeps short-term technical logs, such as IP addresses and browser details, to keep the website secure and working.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to deal with your request, and then delete them. We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, contact the University’s Data Protection Office at dataprotectionofficer@glasgow.ac.uk.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
