A Social Studies of Deep Tech (SSoDT) seminar with Dr Tineke Kleinhout-Vliek of University College Dublin, held at the Adam Smith Business School, in person and online.

Dr Kleinhout-Vliek shared her work on social pharmaceutical innovations (SPINs) and the future of a more just pharma economy. SPINs are alternative approaches that address inequities in access to medicines, including patent pooling, novel data collection, payment and access schemes, pharmacist and hospital medicine production, socially responsible licensing, and patient-driven partnerships. Operating on the fringes of the pharmaceutical system and without pursuing financial profit, they aim to help patients access medicines and contribute to a more equitable pharmaceutical system.
